Creating a Stand Up Pouch Design That Clicks

Custom pouches have two important jobs to do: to house and protect the products inside, and to act as a vehicle for marketing your brand. The former comes naturally with high-quality, food grade materials so making a design that resonates with your target audience is crucial. Consider the following tips in creating your stand up pouch design:

  1. Give your design room – Stand up pouches are flexible – literally and figuratively. It expands once filled with products so your design has to look good whether it’s empty of filled up. If your packaging requires substantial information about your product, make sure the text is clear and readable by using legible fonts; plus, mind the spacing between words and letters with proper kerning.
  2. Use white ink to your advantage – If you choose clear or metallized barrier film, you’ll have the option to use white ink. Make sure to incorporate this in your artwork in order to highlight specific design elements. This gives your logo or your brand message a sure-fire way of popping out and getting noticed.
  3. Less is more – It might be tempting to overload your packaging with a lot of design elements, but it will end up cluttered and unfocused. Focus on highlighting what’s important – the product and the brand. When required to add more, such as nutritional information and production dates, place it such a way that it does not detract for the overall design and message you’re trying to convey.
