“I still haven't received them and I was supposed to get them about 9 days ago but was sent someone elses invitiations. I have an open support ticket and have not received any notification that my job is going to be printed and sent to me, or that I'll receive any sort of reparations for the cost of my order, or the additional cost I spent to rush the print and shipping on my order.”

“Have used PrintPlace for more than 5 years and while quality has remained good, packaging has gone downhill. This order was for 20,000 business cards. In the past, business cards were packed 500 per box and multiple boxes per carton. This time, all 20,000 were loosely packed into 4 cartons!! QA team pretty much said "that is how we do it now". Similar degradation in packaging of brochures. Will find a new supplier who is more concerned about the total customer experience.”

“I have, in the past, had really great results with postcards, bookmarks, etc. printed by Print Place. But with this order, not so much. I ordered 200 business cards with 1/8" between art and trim at the top (they made it 1//4"), thereby causing the bottom line of phone # and web address to have only 1/16" below before the trim. I rechecked my art to see if if was my mistake, but it was not. I'm hoping they will reprint it at their expense.”

“The paper for the rounded corners it is NOT 14pt. We follow the sample you guys sent us previously, and order the cards but the thickness of the paper is very thin and poor quality.”

“Better service elsewhere. Let me start by saying I'm local to Print Place, in the same county at least. I preferred doing business with a 'local-ish' business. I have bought from them for probably somewhere around 10 years, I also owned a small ASI Ad Specialty business for part of this time. I ordered some b-cards on a same day turn early this week. Initial proof was correct and approved. This was a critical order, so I checked back to see status about an hour or two later just to double check. The JPG showing in my order screen was wrong. Trim lines didn't match the PDF proof I approved and they flipped the 'front' for the 'back'. So I called. I was assured it was all correct. Even went as far as to send me the PDF proof again (which was right). They said the website just didn't show correctly. I said ok, thanks. Yesterday spent my lunch time driving 26 miles each way to grab the order. Guess what... it was wrong. I had a very important meeting last night I needed these cards for, but was told someone would get back to me within 24 hours or so. 24 hour response on an order that I paid a premium for, for a "same day" rush which was actually Tuesday at about 12:30CST to being ready for pick up on Thursday about noon. Not complaining about the time, I know the specs, I have bought here before. But I do expect the right thing to be put in my hand, especially when I even called to confirm when I saw what looked like was an error. I know this business. I do my own Illustrator AI layouts. I understand the templates and the ordering process probably better than the customer service people at this company. But they opted to not listen to me. Such is life. I just can't deal with this kind of let down. I half way thought that being local, standing there face-to-face and being a customer of a dozen years they might try to make me happy and provide some kind of great customer service by saying 'yeah we screwed up but you are a good repeat customer, let us run these for you right now'. Silly me. It was the same old McDonald's level of lack of accountability and lowest of low customer service 'not my problem' attitude. They were nice and all, but incompetent. They did offer to fix them, but that's not the point here. They already blew my need for them last night, so now I have no rush. I ordered from somewhere else and will going forward. All good things must come to an end. So in short, if you are searching for a massive lack of accountability and les than stellar customer service, take it from this 10+ year customer, this is the place for you. If you need things done right the first time by a company who values its customers, look elsewhere. PrintPlace definitely fills a niche market of mediocrity.”

Business Card Printing That Boosts a Customer's First Impression

Business card printing is crucial for networking with potential clients and customers, whether you choose a standard style or create custom cards. They are an essential, tangible tool to deliver brand and contact information. These also establish and strengthen the impression you make at every meeting.

A Professional's First Choice

Choose from two premium materials that are the default choice for business cards.

14pt Cardstock Custom Business Cards

14 pt. Cardstock Uncoated

  • An economical option that’s best for large quantities
  • Fits easily into cardholders; easy to carry & hand out
  • Uncoated feature suits colors meant to look less saturated
  • A slightly textured surface allows for writability and an elegant touch to your design

Business Cards 14pt Cardstock Uncoated Back Thickness

14 pt. Cardstock Uncoated Back

  • Has a slightly rigid feel & does not bend easily
  • Writable side for jotting notes & other details
  • Emphasize your company name, logo, and contact details with a gloss, high gloss UV or matte front
  • Colors appear less saturated on the back side, perfect for designs with light palettes

Print 14 pt. Cardstock Custom Business Cards

14 pt. Cardstock

  • The most popular choice for business cards
  • A good balance between price & durability
  • Comes with a protective matte, gloss, or high gloss UV coating for double-sided business cards

16pt Cardstock Business Cards Printing

16 pt. Cardstock

  • The professional choice for companies targeting high-end clients
  • Slightly thicker than the standard 14 pt. cardstock
  • Choose gloss coating to make every color pop or matte to create a soft, muted look
  • Less likely to bend or crease when handed out or stored in wallets

If you're still unsure about which option to choose, read our  comprehensive guide on the different paper materials and coatings available.

Look Extra Brilliant or Engage Your Audience in Elegance

You can choose from three protective coatings, depending on your cardstock selection:

Matte is the go-to choice of pastel or light-colored designs. Colors come out muted for a look that’s easy on the eyes.

Gloss is perfect for bold and bright color combinations. The reflective shine lets your business card pop even from afar.

High gloss UV takes the shine a level up. Colors come out extra vivid for a premium appearance. You can add this on one or both sides to highlight details or complement the shiny front with a writable back.

From Daring to Definitive Dimensions

We offer the standard size for business cards, along with other distinct dimensions.

      • 2” x 3.5” or the US standard business card size easily fits in most wallets and card holders.
      • 2.5” x 2.5” or square size is slightly wider and taller than the standard. Its unique shape instantly distinguishes your company in a stack of business cards.
      • 1.75” x 3.5” or slim is a little thinner than the standard but fits inside a standard business card holder.

Follow the Right Lines

It’s important to include the following guidelines around your business card design. These portions ensure no part of the design is cut and every aspect is showcased after you print standard business cards.

      • Safety line surrounds the entire business card design. It should border all the relevant information & main parts of your card.
      • Bleed line refers to the ends of the whole file. Make sure the design’s background color reaches here.
      • Trim area provides an allowance between the safety line and bleed line. This prevents any cutting errors on the printer’s part.

If you’re not confident about measuring these guidelines, you can download our available business card layout templates. These already contain the above guidelines to prevent any design or cutting errors.

Custom Business Cards FAQs

What are some crucial questions to ask before I create my business card?
If you’re still unsure how to approach designing your business card, ask yourself the following questions:

      1. What kind of image do I want to convey?
      2. Who is my target market/clientele?
      3. What is the most important part of the card?
      4. How do I want my card to stand out?

Which material is recommended for double sided printing?
Both the 14 pt. and 16 pt. cardstock are thick enough to showcase relevant information and company designs on both sides of your card. The 16 pt. cardstock is much thicker and is used by companies and individuals who really want their cards to stand out.

When can I expect my standard business card order?
Our standard business cards can be printed within the same day of your order or on the next business day depending on your deadline. The order will then be shipped after your preferred turnaround time.

Standard Business Card Sizes

Standard business card printing dimensions vary from country to country. The standard business card size is 3.5” x 2” in the United States and Canada. If you’re a designer from outside the US and want to create standard American business cards, the close approximate would be 51 mm x 89 mm or a 1.75 ratio.

Here are the dimensions of American, Japanese, and UK standard business cards and credit cards for comparison:

To be clear, 3.5” x 2” is the standard finished size. There may be a bleed area that can extend further out before the cards are trimmed to their final size. This allows for a safe space when trimming down a business card design. This bleed can be any width, but â??” is typical for the North American context.

Custom Business Card with Bleeds & Safe Margins

Standard business card sizes are not regulated by any official body. Existing size standards throughout the world exist due to tradition and convenience. Business card holders and filing devices in different countries may also be more compatible with the existing standards. Other cards such as credit cards and banking cards may influence the standard business card size in a certain countries. For instance, banking cards (85.60 × 53.98 mm) and business cards in Western Europe (85 × 55 mm) allowing them to be easily used in the same storage cases if needed. The dominant standard in a neighboring country can also cause a certain standard business card size to be adopted, such as the case of Canada adopting the standard American business card size. Taken together these factors can reinforce the uniformity of business card dimensions within countries.

As you can see from the table, the standard business card sizes from all over the world are not that radically different. The difference between the widest and narrowest standard is just around half an inch. If you give someone a traditionally-shaped business card with a different country’s standard dimensions, they won’t necessarily know the difference until you tell them or if they try to store your card somewhere intended for a local standard. In most cases, your business card would likely still fit, especially in the case of US standard size cards, which are slightly narrower compared to others.
