Make the Right Mark
Choose a custom label size that distinguishes your design branding elements and any important information on the product. All sizes come in either a rectangle or square shape.
- 2” x 2” is the most popular square size; easily fits on small bottles or jars.
- 3” x 4” is a medium-sized square; perfect for emphasizing image-based logos or designs.
- 2” x 3.5” is perfect for rectangle labels to be placed on boxes or surfaces with flat widths.
Distinct and Durable Displays
The high-gloss UV coating option applies an equally stunning, high-reflective shine to your label’s non-metallic elements. Colors come out in vivid detail, a perfect complement to the metallic foil labels’ glimmering surface.

Metallic Labels FAQs
What are the requirements for metallic printing?Keep in mind the following file requirements as you create a design using the downloadable formats below:
- The font size should be a minimum of 7 or 8 pts. Avoid printing small text or fine lines in metallic.
- Border and stroke must be more than 1.5 pts.
- Images and artwork should be at least 300 dpi.
- All files should be in CMYK color mode.
How do I prepare my design for metallic printing?
Follow the steps below to ensure your artwork is ready for metallic printing:
- Apply metallic printing on lighter colors. The effect won’t be as apparent on dark colors.
- Create two layers to distinguish the elements printed in ink from the elements with metallic printing. Both files should have the same size.
- The regular CMYK layer shows which elements are printed in ink. Apply 15% K (Key or black) on the area that will be printed in metallic color.
- The metallic printing layer only shows the elements that will appear as metallic. The element(s) that will be printed in metallic colors should have the same location as seen on the CMYK layer. Apply 100% K (Key or black) on the metallic area and white on the areas with no metallic printing.
The images below show the difference between the two layers:
- Alignment is crucial to the file preparation process. The CMYK and metallic printing layers should both have the same size. Common elements must be in the same position on both layers.
- Check for a white "halo" around the knockout area or where two colors overlap on the layer. To prevent this effect on the CMYK layer, grow or stroke the metallic area in a mask by 1 pt. This allows the metallic silver to blend with the CMYK area, which reduces the appearance of a halo. Alternatively, you can add more color to the knockout area to reduce the halo effect.
How long will it take to produce my metallic foil labels?
It takes seven (7) business days to print the metallic labels. The printing turnaround refers to how long it takes to produce the order and does not include the shipping time. To find out when your order will arrive, select “Get Delivery Estimate” on the online calculator and input your zip code.
How much does it cost to print a metallic label?
The cost will depend on the size and quantity of your order. Smaller quantity orders cost more per piece, while larger quantities save you more per item. For example, 500 2” x 2” metallic labels cost 12¢ per piece. But a bulk printing order of 2,500 costs less at 4¢ per label.
Are metallic labels waterproof?
The white sticker paper material lasts indoors and is not recommended for outdoor exposure. However, the high-gloss UV coating protects the design from abrasion and keeps your design looking fresh even after frequent handling.
Metallic Label Templates
Our layout templates will show you how to format your artwork. This ensures your labels print correctly. Follow the steps below to prepare your product for metallic printing:
- Create two layers on your file.
- The first layer shows the design in regular CMYK color.
- The second layer shows which areas will be printed in metallic. Color all portions for metallic printing in 100% K. All other sections that will be printed in regular CMYK should be colored white.

How to Create Effective Metallic Labels
Labels can make or break a customer’s decision in buying your product. Keep these design tips in mind as you create a custom metallic label.
- Always go large. Use big font sizes that can be read even from afar. Keep the character count to a minimum for easy reading.
- Keep things light. Metallic foil printing works best on light colors. Otherwise, the sheen isn’t as obvious on darker shades.
- Give your colors purpose. Your color choice can affect the impact of your message on the customer. Opt for silver metallic labels if your brand wants to exude sophistication. Simpler colors like blue communicate trust. Pink is associated with warmth and femininity.
- Distinguish yourself from the competition. Your labels will be placed next to other products on a display shelf. Make sure that the label design is on-brand and stands out against the rest.
